Why Hunt the Kinzua Quality Area?
The Kinzua Quality Area provides an opportunity to harvest nice bucks.
Opportunities to harvest healthy antlerless deer are provided by antlerless and DMAP licenses.
It's Free!
There's good road access to hunting areas and there aren't any "Posted - no Hunting" signs; click here for Driving Directions, click here for maps of road access into the area.
There are large forested areas where hunters can get "back in" and be alone; click here for a map designating "low hunter density" (the map for 2010 will be posted in August 2010).
There are enough hunters to move deer, but not hordes of hunters.
There's a continuous supply of quality feeding and cover areas for scouting before the season.
Multiple deer seasons (archery, rifle, and muzzleloader) provide many opportunities to harvest deer.
Sights and sounds of other wildlife abound while hunting deer: grouse, turkeys, rabbits, and squirrels are often seen; sometimes bears, coyotes, or bobcats are sighted.
You can take your harvested deer (during the rifle season) to one of three checking stations and get it weighed, aged, and receive other information about deer and deer hunting; click here for information on taking deer to checking stations.
Go to the annual banquet with a chance at many raffle items. If you take a harvested deer to a KQDC checking station you'll receive a ticket to the annual hunter appreciation banquet. The ticket is also a raffle ticket for items raffled off at the banquet - hunters receive one ticket for bringing an antlered deer to a checking station and two tickets for bringing an antlerless deer to a checking station.
You're contributing to the science and management of deer by harvesting antlerless (or antlered) deer and taking them to checking stations for data collection.
