The map below identifies: 1) access
roads; 2) areas with high deer density (areas outlined in green); 3) areas
where low hunter density is low (areas outlined in blue) because access roads
are gated and/or road density is low; 4) locations of check stations
(indicated by a deer head); and, 5) DMAP units: DMAP Unit 134 is bordered in
orange and is the northern portion of the Kinzua Quality Area; DMAP Unit 135 is
bordered in purple and is the southern portion of the Kinzua Quality Area.
The Kinzua Quality Area (area inside
red border, map below) can be accessed easily by the many interior forest
roads.
- From the North, dropping down from Interstate 86 on state
highway 280 (which turns into state highway 346) or 219 (which intersects
state highway 346 in Bradford) provides quick access to the northern portion
via state highway 346.
- From the West, state highway 321 forms the western boundary: many
forest roads lead from it into the interior.
- From the East, 346 from Bradford gets you into the northern
portion; state highway 770 (from 219 at Custer City) provides access to the
middle of the eastern portions: taking state highway 59 south from its
intersection with state highway 770 provides access to the southeastern
portion.
- From the South, forest road 321, which intersects state highway
321 at Red Bridge, provides easy access to the southern portion.
